This video is a true paradox, because it is so interesting and yet so damn boring.

Interesting.
Concerning the "paradox" at the end, surely a moral relativist would only believe all "values" are relative, therefore, to say that "all values are relative" is not a value, but a claim.

That is because you attend college for a job rather than for the sake of knowledge itself.

hey elcreaso.
it's just that in my experience, when push comes to shove, people will do what they have to do, or what their emotions lead them to do. for example, someone may have a no adultery rule for themselves, but when presented with the temptation, well... same with smoking. how many times have you heard people make a rule for themselves about not smoking, and then take it up again. i am saying that this goes for everything that people do.

Satanrocks668:
Are you saying that regardless of what people say they will act as a result of the consequences of the choices they make and not out a sense of duty? Why is it insane to expect people to follow their own rules? Why do they make rules unless they expect to follow them? I do agree with your assessment that its not what you say but what you do that shows who you are! Sort of like the Zen saying you make your way by walking!

regardless of what people say, they will act teleologically, regardless of the deontological code they claim to subscribe to. it is insane to expect people to follow their own rules. they don't get the benefit of the doubt from me. it is better to assume that they will act according to their human nature, and to govern yourself accordingly. less disappointment that way. it's not what you say but what you do that shows who you are.

1. academia is boring
2. theories are a waste of energy and time if they do not help you in the real world
3. there are no good reasons to apply a rule that will have a shitty effect
4. it makes no sense to blindly follow the law when it is controlled by other people
5. the greatest number means nothing in my choices are bad for me
6. they will try to control you by making you feel ashamed of your actions and
7. they will kill you if they can't control you
8. if you join them, you are a sellout
