Super Mario Bros. 3 Treasure/Coin Ship trick

It's possible to change one of the map screen wandering Hammer Bros. into a treasure/coin ship. These ships contain that Hammer Bros.' item, & a mess o' coins.

This trick can be done on worlds 1,3,5, & 6. To achieve the ship, basically ensure that when you stop the roulette block, at the end of a level, your coin total must be a multiple of 11, & the 10's digit of your score must be the same as your multiple. Ex. 11 coins, & 1 in the ten's digit of your score.

It's best to stop the roulette block when the timer's last digit is on an even number. This ensures the 10's digit of your score won't change. It can be stopped on an odd number too, but doing so adds 5 to the 10's digit of your score.

Edit: Thank God I got the annotations correct. I was a little worried I wouldn't, since this is my 1st crack at it. Also, thank God I save old programs. I had some video conversion problems.

Also, this same trick can be done on the Nintendo Wii VC(Virtual Console) ver. of the game.

aw man this is my fav game too. i love it deeply. i read about it online even tho ive been playin it for 20 yrs. i look up the images and watch ppl play it on youtube. lol. it changed the way i looked at video games and the world. i feel bad for kids who werent around in the early 90's. everybody talked abt this and had it. it was definately the IT game to have.
