@Mysterwright Yes right. I think the object of the whole show is to simply tame the obsession of being and looking pretty, because both extremes (too ugly and too much plastic surgery/unhealthy diet) are not desired by the majority.
Honestly who wants a round face, wide flaring nose, fat arms, double chin, nappy unmanageable untamed hair, pale ghost skin, or dark purple black skin tone? Nobody.

They picked America because she is not a typical "hot" lady. But now she's skinnier and has actually not imbibed the message the show wanted to convey. Oh well that IS the reality of society.

Why can't Betty date an Italian, a Canadian or god forbid blonde-hair, blue-eyed Oklahoman? Does Boss Hogg have Roscoe and Enos posting signs outside of network buildings saying no Dukes allowed or something? B)-~~~ Somebody save us.

Its the real deal because who can say its wrong? We never see successful Asians like Suzuki St. Pierre at all or Irish like Daniel Meade without allusion to JFK, Camelot, etc. The only time we see Mexicans its when they are playing parts like Cheech and Chong or middle class like George Lopez. How long did The West Wing stay on with Jimmy Smits instead of Martin Sheen (himself a fair-complected Chicano) as president? Y is it that UB will only last with a Mormon bf? This ain't Full House.

I know, right? If you're not skinny, you don't matter? What kind of message does that send? You'd think if she were attempting to portray all hispanics they would have puerto rican *and* mexican latinas together as the focus group. Who do they get? Paris Hilton to decide what's hot? If so, Betty should be who Marlon and Shawn Wayans dress as in White Chicks 2. j/k Either that or The Joker from Batman but the point is you're right. It is society but society needs another Punk Rock revolution.
