Viruses, just like other computer programs are just lines of code that tell the computer what to do so there's still a risk of getting them. And even though Apple did put some safeguards against viruses (Microsoft did too), the largest contributing factor that Macs have a lesser risk of viruses is because more people are using PCs so they're easier targets. Making viruses is just like starting a business: you've got to know who to do things for.
