As Everest Base Camp grows more crowded, we take an opportunity to meet some of the Sherpas dedicated to keeping the mountain clean.

  • Bravo! This is a very important perspective. So much so that EVERYONE who uses nature in any way any where IS RESPONSIBLE for what they bring in. Leave NOTHING behind. In other words TAKE OUT ALL THAT IS BROUGHT IN.

  • Bottom line the entire Everest Expedition is basically two Teams that make money doing what they do. If an average person could see the garbage in the beautiful surroundings, they would be appauled.

Base camp is clean, compared to the other camps, high up. There are so many F-ing Oxy-Cylinders around, they should close all climbs for a two-three year stint just to get all the crap off the Mountain.

  • It's sad to see the direction of Mountaineering these days. It's become a commercialized industry and because of that, the soul has been taken out of it for many people who are old school climbers. What we're left with is an ego-driven industry that is mostly just bad. The trash is also unacceptable. The worst part of it is how many people go who don't really belong because of lack of training and preparation. There are a lot of "climbers" out there, and only about 2% of them are worth a damn.

  • Good job. Thanks.

  • @SSgtParmer nobody complains about the mindless things you do. why bitch about it?

  • These people have extreme disregard for the environment. They leave garbage and crap all over the place. The mountain is littered with garbage from these people. They claim to be these outdoor people,,,, blahh,,, blahhh,,, they drop garbage all over the place.

  • Maybe it could be an called the ........

When I was in D/co I was in my 30's overweight folks like me notice the altitude of D/co bc I am from NoLa it is flat everywhere you go here there you have grade to climb and decend our bodies are not adjusted to those things and notice the changes. When you are young and strong you never realize the little things.
