On November 17, 2009, Ambassador Roy Ferguson of New Zealand and his wife, Dawn, sat down to chat with CIES about the meaning and value of the Fulbright Program. In the case of the Ferguson family the matter is both national and personal. A Fulbright grantee at the University of Pennsylvania, the Ambassador earned a Master of Arts in International Relations and also met his future wife. Among his many professional distinctions - including an assignment as New Zealand's concurrent ambassador to the Republic of Korea and the Democratic Republic of Korea - Mr. Ferguson has served on the board of Fulbright New Zealand, helping to set policy for the program as well as reviewing the applications of scholars, professionals, and students hoping, themselves, to join the Fulbright family.
