This is my solo version of King Cimson's classic tune, RED. As you can see, I played all of the instruments. There are a couple of keyboard parts in the mix, but I did not take a video of those.
I also play this song in my band (Private Circus) and I used some of the minor arrangement modifications in my version here. For example, the chord that you first hear at the 1:10 mark is different from Fripp's original; he actually double tracked two different chords in the original. I also play a different bass note than the original at the 1:28 mark. That was my mis-remembering the original. Oops!
I owe a huge thank you to Chuck Pukmel (http://www.chuckpukmel.com/) for doing this mix for me. He did a great job in cleaning up a lot of the muddiness in the original tracks. NOTE: the original post of this video had one of my test mixes rather than Chuck's mix. This one sounds much, much better!
For those who care about such things:
The guitar is a Carvin Fatboy HF2 (Allan Holdsworth model). It's running through a Roland VG88 and a Boss RT-20 rotary speaker pedal (heard in the middle section). The main amp is a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10. I'm also running it through a bass amp that I'm too lazy to identify at the moment.
The bass is a Cort B5FL, and the drums are DW's. I use Vic Firth 5B sticks.
The video was recorded with a Panasonic G2 micro four thirds camera with a 25mm c-mount lens.
Way to nail it!
