The less fat you have then the more favourable the testosterone to oestrogen ratio and the greater the insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake into muscle cells. Truthfully being lean is the best environment for muscle gain. The calorie restriction is the main hurdle - but if you were to begin a bulking phase from an extremely low body fat percentage you'd see ridiculous gains. There will be some people out there who can gain muscle while staying at v.low bf % though - there's a lot of variation.

This time I disagree..You can build muscle and lose fat at the same time.You don`t need fat to become stronger.People get this crazy idea that first you need to bulk up consideraly and have some fat on to build muscle, but that is not true.

think about it, if you put on muscle your body fat percentage would drop therefore you should stay as ripped as you were at the least. For me personally I'm getting more ripped and putting on muscle same time after 2.5 years of training

Jimmy struthers told me to do p90x 9 times a day and lift only 16 times a day,Using german volume training and i will stay ripped and lean the whole year and the diet he uses is 49 peices of carrots and apple sauce.
