I've been a huge fan of Star Trek since I was a kid, I grew up with it. I've seen every episode of every series and every film, some of them multiple times, that said these people f***ing scare me. Wearing a starfleet uniform to jury duty? Seriously? I'd never buy one of those things in the 1st place much less wear it in public. Paying $50 to drink after someone w/ a virus? Are you f***ing kidding me? I wouldn't pay that kinda cash to shake Shatner's hand. These people are 1st class nuttjobs.

Honestly... yeah, some of these fans are nuts (how the Whitewater juror was never held in contempt of court is beyond me), but any pop culture franchise will have it's obsessed fans. You could take any scenario in this film, replace Star Trek with some other pop culture franchise/icon, and it would fit.

Let's be honest... if Lady Gaga was sick, and someone auctioned off a "Gaga virus," someone would buy it.

@arlichar11 well, unfortunately, sometimes it takes creepy people to do cool things: alice in wonderland writer liking little girls, michael jackson and his boys creepyness, salvador dali and his art....

and gene roddenberry himself not exactly creepy, but still ripping off the composer of the origonal star trek theme, by writing lyrics (!) to the music, in order to get a 50 percent music residual every time the show played.
