A monument to the over 1,000 innocent civilians, whose lives were cruelly taken away from them by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) during Operation Cast Lead in December 2008-January 2009.

  • @ochrered No Israeli kids were killed in Gaza, it was a one-sided slaughter.

  • @ochrered This song, and the whole Species Deceases EP, was written mainly about the bombing of Hiroshima, (hence the blossoms in the title) although it serves well for any human conflict. It was written on the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and targets that conflict quite specifically. It's not about the Israel-Palestinian conflict so I have no idea why this video is associated with it. Bit of a shame as it's the only studio version I can find on You Tube.

  • @weirdunclebob I know the history of the song and why it was written, I actually associated it with the bombing of Gaza because - like Hiroshima - Gaza was effectively bombed back into the stone age. Israel does constantly talk of "peace for all" and so does America, and then they turn around and give their blessings to the murder of innocent civilians, as America did at Hiroshima.

  • @blackiron60 Your mate ochrered seems to think that Midnight Oil and Peter Garret in particular are to blame for something to do with the Gaza conflict, though, and I think it's because you put these images to their song. Other people may also make the same connection which is why I think it's unfair of you to associate them. That's the point I was making.

  • "those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. therefore, rest in peace. there is no difference between the johnnies and the mehmets to us where they lie side by side, here in this country of ours. you, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries... wipe away your tears. your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. after having lost their lives on this land, they have become our sons as well." Ataturk 1934
  • First of all the war whereever it is has to stop.

Now the song. the song written for soldiers who fell down in Çanakkale Turkey.

    it starts

"You the mothers who sent your sons

    Wipe away your tears

For those who fought and those who fell

Become our sons as well." and this is a part of M.K. ATATURK's speech in 1934.

its about the anzac soldiers who fell down in Çanakkale.

There were 500.000 dead at the end of the war.1916

this is the speech for anzacs and all.
