Products in movies influence everyone, especially young people. Tobacco is no exception.

Tobacco-free youth groups from 10 communities converged on Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) venues to raise awareness among movie-goers about the direct impact of smoking in youth-rated movies on young people.

Why should they cut out smoking in movies? People smoke in real life and movies should represent real life situations. I have a hard time picturing an awesome Tarantino movie where that characters are all chewing gum. And By the way smokers know better than anyone how bad smoking is for you.

Actually most clips of smoking in films is around 2-5 minutes and not plot central. Clearly the point of having smoking in there is to advertise to young people.

Smokers do know it is bad for you yes, but they still ignore it. Never discard the power of manipulation through underhand tactics i.e. continually seeing a cool actor/actress smoking...

Disney only stopped smoking in their films recently you know...smoking cartoons? Is that reality or advertising?!
