@montgonova But have you considered the land that it would take to allow free range and the number of cattle needed to feed the USA? Have you considered the extra costs of maintenance and the time and effort needed to round up thousands of cattle? How is that going to affect your wallet, the environment?
At the same time, cattle are being abused and mistreated for convenience. That too is unacceptable.

Well, for one, if it weren't for meat eating, our ancestors would have starved to death from iron deficiency, and henceforth, we would not be having this discussion about meat, cause we would not be here. Western type vegetarianism is a privilege to those who can afford it. Many in the rest of the world cant afford this lifestyle, they live a hand-to-mouth existence. With the exception of Hindus, Jinas & Sikhs who do it because it is required of their faith & do it without the zealotry & snobbery of Western Vegetarians, i'm with you on the whole vegan/vegetarian thing.
