Remco Toys made different variations of the Whirlybird and this example happens to be the Monkey Division Version. This variation carries the Monkey Division Logos. Remco Toys also put out a line of toys called Monkey Division. A military line of toys primarily focusing on jungle guerilla warfare. They offered Helmets, guns, rifles, mess kits, bazooka's and the list goes on and on. This variation is rare and tough to find, ESPECIALLY in mint condition. The box has its original protective cardboard inserts, an unopened bag of tanks, trucks and soliders, a working hoist, and working hoist hook. The bag of soliders etc. are not shown in the video. Enjoy the video. You may never see one in this condition again. Most Whirlybirds you find, no matter what the condition do not work and generally missing pieces and the rotors blades are usually bent or missing.

  • where do u get these toys?by the way nice video.

  • Thanks for the compliement. I find these items on ebay, yard sales, collectible shows word of mouth, etc. I bought this Whirlybird on ebay and I was lucky to get it.

  • Yes, it "clacks" as it rolls and I can hear it. I'm watching it now and it's "clacking" just fine. Thanks for viewing.

  • Very cool and rare toy. It is a early 60s time capsule The CH 21 heleicpoter was used in Vietnam in the Advisour era 1961/64. As for the 'Monkey Divsion' I have faint memories of the TV adds now I know it was not a dream.I also remember the real CH 21 'Shawnee' helicopter flying around.. We called it 'the Flying Bannana' Great find on your part

  • Thanks for your comment. Yes, this version is tough to find especially in mint condition. You can find the "white" version helicopter on ebay very easily and occasionaly this version, but it is usually not complete.

  • They don't make toys like they use to

  • Oh yeah! I had many Monkey Division items (canteen, etc.), but the Whirly Bird was to die for. What a prize you have there. That would have been a REAL thrill to have found one of those bad-boys under our aluminum Christmas tree back in '64.

  • Hi. Your video is cool. I have some found footage on my channel which shows a Remco Whirleybird on Christmas morning back in the sixties. The box is different from yours, and as you say, there were other variations.

  • I Hope I don't get my hand cut.

  • Hello I found one of these at a yard sale today, without the box, how much is it worth in the monkey variation, thanks??

  • im so happy i live now then 40 years ago
