Sri Lankan Military Intelligence is behind the Colombo bus bomb that killed 25 and wounded 75, a source familiar with Lankan MI operations. Recent losses and battlefield defeats for the military is not the news the government wanted couple of weeks before the Eastern Election.

According to military sources, at least 165 Sri Lankan soldiers were killed and 20 more went missing in a major battle with Tamil separatists in the Northern Sri Lanka, AFP reported today, April 25, 2008. According to ICRC, Tamil Tigers handed over 28 dead bodies of Sri Lankan soldiers.

The death toll from the (independent) sources were far higher than official defence ministry casualty figures, who have long been accused of massaging the statistics, AFP added.

A well-known Sri Lankan military observer put the death toll to 200+, and injured to 600+. Sri Lankan military top general was looking for major victory in the Northern battle front, before the election. Military couldn't answer their top civilian officers what really went wrong with this disastrous endeavor to capture Tigers' positions. The world also wanted to know whose hand is up in the civil-war. There is no question, this time, it was Tamil Tigers'.

The Sri Lankan Government blamed the bus attack on Tamil Tigers. It is not the first time, when Tamil Tigers win in the battlefield, bombs go off in Colombo killing civilians, and blaming Tigers to discredit. These tactics are known to locals, but it was harder for the International Community to digest. Most of the naïve spectators (some in the International Community) might still blame the Tigers for the bus attack, instead of bringing the Lankan Military officers, Defence Secretary, and Defence Minister to Hague.

LTTE did'nt need to blow a bomb nd didn't need attention... everyone was already talkin abt wt they done to SLA in muhmalai.. they didn't need attention..its GOSL work to divert attention nd to maintain south's support..it all make sense..
