A multimeter has many functions, making it one of the most versatile tools available for the do-it-yourselfer. This video provides basic information to check voltage in either 120-Volt AC or 12-Volt DC circuits. The ability to read the exact voltage allows the owner to check battery condition, battery-charging effectiveness, and voltage available to appliances and fixtures regardless of the power source.

  • Best Video yet , very well done

  • It sounds like you have your multimeter in a setting that is for measuring current (amps), leave the red lead in the fused section, black in the com section and dial up to ac volts (not sure what type of meter you have, mine is auto range). I made that mistake when I first got a multimeter, 2 hours later I was back at the store making a return because I blew the internal fuse. I am thinking about getting the $5 cheap yellow meter used in this video to use as a battery meter for my battery bank.

  • @Usernameinvalid16 i assume you have it set to an incorrect setting

  • Y is it that every time i go to use the damn thing on a Out let it fucking ark's at me and blow's the circuit breaker?

  • Isn't it safer to connect the common before the hot?

According to the manual it is anyway.
