  • Im not sure that we have seen the same movie...grandrieux is one of the most inventive guy i ever seen...lights textures sounds ...when i will succeed to communicate such absolute & great things..i will tell...but not yet ...let the artist be!!

    Longue vie à philippe.....

  • "La Vie Nouvelle" is a decadent film. The balance between child-like formal research and narration seen in "Sombre," one that made it very fresh, has disappeared. The same goes for the performers, who were "working blindly" in "Sombre": they hadn't seen nor responded to their own work yet. Upon the film's release, they watched themselves (or others), and the "Grandrieux-style" was established. Once on "La Vie Nouvelle" they mostly mimicked that style, soul/thought-lessly.

  • "La Vie Nouvelle" is a completely original film. It feels like something that exists in between. Everything in it seems happened upon by accident. Grandrieux also seems like a pretty smart guy. He really has a knack for making images and sounds resonate in the most natural way. He finds beauty in the most abject forms.
