When the arm goes up, and the dump switch is activated, the packer cycles starts and runs two times. The blade will still be at an angle, yes. It actually deflects the debris being dumped and does not give it a clear shot to the hopper floor. This helps to protect the floor--at least on that first can. It will not be in the exact position every time anyway, unless there is a pause in operation between cans...

When trash is poured on top of the packer, it is closer to the edge of the hopper, making it easier to fly out. It's still a great system, don't get me wrong, I just think that retracting the packer all the way (like normal RL packers) after 2 cycles a bin is a better way to cover the load.

The thing is, if you continuously run the packer and program it so that it if it ever stops, it stops in the fully packed position (seen at 1:25, for instance), the load is not only packed, but also covered and unable to fly out of the hopper. I think there's a greater chance that trash will fly out when the trash is poured onto the packer while its in the stopped position than in the fully back position like at 1:25.

That's an excellent packer! I like how it drops as the can is dumped, that'll definitely save it from hard impacts, I put many dents in the top of a McNeilus packer from people putting piles of bricks and other heavy objects in their cans. Ever have any problems with metal objects getting jammed into the pinch points? I also love how there's no area behind that blade that would need daily cleaning.

The drivers in Australia never cover the load, 1, because the trucks have no covers over the hopper, and 2, the trucks don't need covers because there is no garbage blowing around.

Have you ever noticed an operator using traditional equipment have to get out and jump up and down on the load just to be able to wrench down a mangled hopper cover?? You will not see a Scorpion Operator ever have to do that!!

Trash blowing out of the hopper is not good! It leads to messy streets and neighborhoods, and is considered littering which can lead to fines. The Scorpion packer is exceptional in its packing capabilities, and in addtion, keeps the load covered too! It is covered not only on route but also when traveling to the landfill. see next---

The traditional style of equipment has been used. I think the Scorpion has made an impression, however. We hope to see State Of the Art equipment in there real soon. Yes, that container lid looked as if it had some damage, but it still works. In reference to your packer comment/question--It stops in the "Home" position for a reason. We listen to the customer. They have always requested the load be covered. see next---

What truck used to collect there? That bin at :50 had some kind of deformed lid, if you could still call that a lid!! The packer's definitely strong and keeps up, but I just don't like the fact that it stops halfway through the cycle. Great video though!

i get it now the blade drops down then it packs the trash still dont get why the blade is stopped until you dump the bin its a good concept too have while going too the dump nothing comes flying out and hits a car
