The Grand Traverse is an alpine masterpiece. This high Teton traverse includes ascents of Teewinot, Mt. Owen, The Grand Teton (via the legendary North Ridge), The Middle Teton, South Teton, Gilkey Tower, Ice Cream Cone, Spalding Peak, Cloudveil Dome and finally Nez Perce.
The climbing is technically challenging and exposed. For several skyline miles the intrepid climber stays above 11,000 ft.
In September of 2006 Amy and Forrest McCarthy celebrated their wedding anniversary by completing this alpine classic. The McCarthys competed it in two days with a bivouac at the Lower Saddle.
