Playing in memory of a teammate who died in a car crash, the Scituate High School boys lacrosse team knocked off two-time defending state champion Duxbury on Wednesday to win its first state title. The 15-7 win by the Sailors avenges two straight narrow losses to the Skippers in the semi-finals in 2006 and the finals in 2007. Here Scituate Coach Rick Bagby and Cohasset Coach Stew Curran pay tribute to Tim Mahoney, a 16-year-old killed in a car crash in February in Cohasset. For coverage of the game, see Thursday's Patriot Ledger or visit our website, patriotledger.com/highschool.

im pulling for skippers to bring home the d3 state title this year. If there is a time for the skippers to beat the sailors after losing 2 them twice this year, the d3 state title game is the place to do it
