New media has the potential you describe, but to whose tweets do you habitually reply? Does everyone get an answer, or do you focus on messages from Drezner, Carvin, Nexon et al? If you're basically just talking to the same people you regularly email or schmooze at ISA, what has really changed? New media seems to have reinforced existing channels without opening many new ones.
