Not really. Africa Command provides sustained security partnership with nations of Africa and regional organizations such as the African Union. The U.S. interest toward natural resources is that they are available on the open market at fair prices with profits going to rightful owners -- this has little to do with the U.S. militaryt. As a trading nation, the US has interest in joining with the international community to ensure trade routes are open & safe. This benefits many, not just the U.S.

When people claim resources are the only reason for creating U.S. Africa Command, the logical conclusion of their assertion is that Africa's 1 billion people have nothing of worth to offer the world except natural resources. If that's what you believe, we'll have to disagree.
