Comparing Zakk and Dave is like comparing Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhodes. If you like the guy or the music better, you'll most likely like his guitar playing better. I'm an Eddie Van Halen fan. You won't convince me that Randy Rhodes is better than Eddie, even though I love and respect Randy's work. It's all in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.

i love both of them. but i gotta say when it comes to guitar zakk just totally annihilates dave at everything. zakk's confidence, charisma and stage presence is out of this world. when dave, however, plays he's so still and so stiff. zakk has his own unqiue style of playing, you can tell his solo from a mile away whereas with dave it's like just another metal solo. if you were going to compare anyone with zakk with someone it should've marty friedman or chris broderick.

its hard to determine... they play different styles so really theres no way to compare... i would say mustaine is by far a faster and more technical guitarist and zakks guitar playing comes straight from his soul....for zakk the technical aspect doesnt factor in and it doesnt need to.
