Two days later...

Demi's POV:

I sat on the edge of my bed tapping my blackberry excessivily. I want to call him but everytime I dial I hang up, he made me so nervous. I usually put off such a hard exterior, my friends are jealous of my confidence around guys, but Joseph makes me feel so vurnerable.
Finally I pressed 'send' again and waited. It rang three times before
He answered. "Hello?"
"Joseph?" I asked quietly.
"Hey Demi! How are you?"
"I'm good, thanks. How'd you know it was me?"
"Like I said before, no one calls me Joseph."
"Ooh," I replied, feeling stupid. I pushed all my nervous thoughts from
my brain, took a deep breath and attempted to act like I usual do around
a guy. "So tomorrow is friday, wanna go to a movie? Say around 7?"
"Of course, i'll pick you up then. Hey Demi..?"
"Yes,"
"Why don't you go to school anymore?"
"I wish I could, but my mom doesn't think i'm strong enough. And i'm sneaking
out for our date tomorrow."
"Oh so it's a date?" Joe asked with a laugh.
"Only if you want it to be."
"Oh, I do." Their was an awkward pause.
"Alright, i'm checking the movie times as we speak..."
"Sweet. What's good?" I asked.
"Depends. Do you want horror, chick flick, comedy or romance?"
"Hmm, i'm kinda in the mood for a scary movie!"
"Jennifer's Body or Sorority Row?" He asked.
"Whatever one is more convienent." I replied.
"Jennifer's Body, it is."

Joe's POV:
After we hung up I had this weird feeling in my stomach. It felt like someone was
tying a rope around it and yanking on it. Was I seriously regretting accepting her invitation?
And what the hell was I getting myself into? This girl is dying, I told myself. DYING. And
I'm willing to risk my feelings and a broken heart, just to feel good with someone for a few
months. After thinking about it for a few minutes I realized how stupid and selfish I sounded.
Of course I'm willing to risk everything, Demi is beautiful, smart, confident, and brave. How
could I not?

[Friday night, 6:45 pm]

Demi's POV:
Miley is sitting on Demi's bed leafing through a copy of OK Magazine. "No way, Jon's off of Jon and
Kate Plus Eight. Now it's just Kate Plus Eight! At least it still rhymes..."

"How does this look?"
"Dems, can't you ever dress up?"
I could feel my cheeks burn. I turned around and said into my closet, "I'm tired, Miley,"
"Demi, you're the strongest person I know."
"Thanks Miles. It's just..the medicine has really gotten me beat."
"I know, hun. Here sit down, i'll find something for you." She looks through the closet for a couple minutes and throws some things at Demi.
"Try this one."
I changed, "So?"
"You look..amazing Demi. It's casual like what you were wearing before, but with more of an edge."

"Thanks, girly." I swiped on some lipgloss and mascara and sat next to Miley on the bed, waiting for Joseph to arrive.
"Where's Selena?" I asked curiously.
"Out with Taylor." Miley said annoyed.
"...what...?" I asked.
"Something's up, she's always with him now. And when they're together she seems so unlike herself. And when she
isn't with him she seems either super low or super bitchy."
"I can see what you mean. Maybe mother nature is being a bitch this month." I laughed.
"Har har. I doubt that's it." Miley said flipping a page of the magazine.
"It's okay, we'll talk to her about it sometime."
*Ding Dong*
"He's here! Oh gosh."
"It's okay, you're beautiful and so is he now go go go." Miley said slapping my butt for me to move out of my bedroom.

[A/N: They are at Demi's house but Miley is really close to Demi's family, and Miley's family is never around. She is an
only child and her mom and dad are always on business trips and stuff so Miley just comes and goes as she pleases.]
