  • This should be in all States. Not just Washington! Its about time they get to the program, I think officers have killed too many deaf people, unaware of the deafness.

  • Great work! I am a deaf educator and also deaf myself. I think all first responders should be aware of this video. The persons responsible for its creation did a great job in getting the facts right. I commend you!

  • I really like this. The information and resources posted below are very helpful as well. I felt really nervous when the man was being handcuffed. He couldn't read the officer's face nor could he sign. Yikes. But this is great. It's really terrifying imagining a trained policeman ready to act, coming on a surprised hoh/deaf person, and the catastrophe that can, (and has,) ensued. Good for you Spokane, and thank-you.

  • Very interesting.. I must have an interpreter because i am profoundly deaf. Police caught me for speeding and i told them i am deaf. Some of communication to write on the paper..

  • there Deaf peoples are NOT very Natives.

why all World Polices think in Language Mime??

  • @Youknowwhat45 If you knew what the deaf and hard-of-hearing go through; such as miscommunication leading to abuse and death, simply because they could not hear, you would not say that. Please put yourself in their position. How? Put ear plugs and ear muffs on for twenty-four hours and do what you do normally and you will understand. Chances are you; like myself, will not be able to keep them on for more than four (4) hours. THank you for your attention in this very important matter. Peace.
