A haunting and beautiful brass quintet arrangement of "American Hymn" (sometimes known as "Keller's American Hymn"). Written in 1866 by Matthias Keller (1813-1875), the American Hymn starts out with the lyrics "Speed our republic, O Father on high, Lead us in pathways of justice and right . . .". It is a patriotic song that Keller composed when Union a prize was offered for a national hymn. It
was first sung in New York, but fell into obscurity. Mr. Keller went to Boston and gave his hymn to the bands to play, and it soon became a favorite in that city, and was sung on all patriotic occasions where a large chorus was employed. Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote "Angel of Peace" to this tune. It is performed here by the Majestic Brass Quintet. arranged by Stewart Schuele.
I love this video and the playing is spectacular.
It's obvious to anyone with even the slightest sense of context, that the creators of the video are having some FUN with the end credits. Yes, simple fun. Nothing more.
What's more amazing is that anyone would take the time to actually comment that they are asinine or anything else. It's just a video. Enjoy or if you don't like it - please keep your comments to yourself, they could be hurtful and in any case are seen as rude and insensitive.
