if you look at vai closely, you can see that he 2 only looks at the addions when he is not playing lose notes, when he has time to look. Like eric does a couple of times. Only vai has more rest in most of his songs. no effence, playing guitar like this is hard enuogh, doing it completely blind is godlike

Who cares if EJ is "boring" (which he isn't). If you are seeing a deity like Eric Johnson in concert you aren't going for the show... the music is what counts here folks and if you ask me, the calibur of musical mastery more than makes up for his lack of showmanship.
