That is a magnet he is holding and it triggers a magnetic reed switch that turns it on or off dending on how you set the polarity. You can also make Exploding Torpedoes by using Sodium Metal that will explode on contact with water . Be Very Carefull a small amount the size of a AAA battery can take out your hand or your arm . If you see your Girlfriend messing with the lifeguard you can sink her with a torpedo like the ones I have on my RC PT-boat But from my experience I advice against it !

@14Funnydude, The hull is made from armed polyester, if you are interested in what it will take to make a rc submarine, try one of the many modelbuilders forums, like rcgroups dot com
They have there all kind of types, most guys are making buildingreports about making their rc subs

@14Funnydude, No this forum isn't mine, but a place where everybody shares their experience with building rc submarines, first try to open the topic boats, on one of the other chapters there is a forum about rc submarines.
If you choose a thread from that, you can follow the build from the start, there are many types of submarines present overthere, so enjoy.
