My good buddy T invited me to his sport to catch some lobsters while freediving. It has been a couple of months since I dove last. I was bit scared to dive at night. hahaha. I wanted to test GoPro2 at night, so I decided to dive. I set the camera to 1080P/30FPS/127FOV. I was expecting GoPro2 to perform much better than the Original GoPro HD. Well, with my spotty light and very shaky motion while hunting lobsters, the old GoPro seems to handle better in this situation at 1080P. I will try it in 720P/60FPS/170FOV next time. The setup should produce smoother motion.

Well, the first spot we visited had amazing visibility. However, the water was way too clear. I guess lobsters can see us coming from far away. There were no lobsters, not even small ones. We had to find murkier and shallower water to start spotting lobsters. We finally found some nice reef where lobsters were crawling outside. T and I had a great night dive with a limit of lobsters!

  • better sound? This I can not even imagine the GoPro - sometimes give the demo video with original sound. Thank you friend:))

  • @sigi5311 As you know, I can not really use GoPro sound because of its quality and pretty boring underwater sound. GoPro2 is the same. I also tried GoPro2's stereo mic input with Azden and Rode shotgun mics. That did not really work since the sound level was so low. I am waiting for GoPro to fix the sound input level via firmware.

  • As always, I admire your courage to dive at night. GoPro 2 is certainly a step in front:)) super video:)

  • @sigi5311 Thanks. It actually had more noises in out of camera files. I may need to set the option to spot metering and use 170FOV since the sensor now is optimized for 170FOV.

  • @sumogurinet the sound is so useless - but fortunately I do not need them or when working with a camera:)) Ok it is logical that the GoPro 2 is a lot better:) But remember that when I filmed fish, and then I worked on a PC with a record of the camera - I saw in the audio track that fish produce sounds:))) It was interesting:)
