I love this song. So glad KAPA spins it! The only problem is, once I sing it, I can't quit!!! :)

Early Keola and Kapono Beamer is The Best. This song is one example. For some time some locals (or almost locals) try to masquerade as if they intellectual mainlanders. Adding to a front, nasal tone & annoying "question-speech" (ending sentence on high note: as if asking question). Conversely, mainlanders and other immigrants move in and then try fo' ack like dey was borne hea, li' dat. OR, try for make "mainland" style here. With song, two whites no make a Wong, Manong, Ah Suk or a Cong.

That's how we do it in Hawai'i. We make fun of each other's ways and all laugh about it. Much better than how they do it on the mainland. Pretending we're all the same and not talking about it. And yes "BukBuk" was on purpose just as them saying "he's just a mean old Pilifino man!" was.

this song it funny
Racism is a serious subject here, but I'm glad we were able to have a serious conversation about it. =P
I also had the feeling you were going to bust this song out too when you mentioned that you were wanting to do a lyrics video on the subject that we were talking about.
And you're welcome... if you ever need help with backgrounds and such, don't hesitate to ask me. =)
Great upload. Keep them coming! (maniac)

@4TMCBran I wanted to create a lyrics video for this song a few months ago so when we talked about how some people are prejudice - well, it was the perfect time to work on this project.
That Keola Beamer has a sense of humor... and I just noticed that when he and his brother sing about Filipinos, they make chicken fighting sounds in the background... wow, was the "Bok-Bok" intentional or a coincidence? O_o
