I've been having all sorts of wacky problems with Gears of War on my 360 lately. During the credits after finishing the campaign mode I got my first 'disc unreadable' error. I chalked it up to being a fluke, restarted the game and played fine - for about ten minutes. Another 'disc unreadable' error popped up. I tried cleaning the disc, didn't help. I tried calling 1-800-4my-xbox, didn't help. I tried voodoo, cursing and threatening my Xbox - didn't help. All it did do was produce the wonderful video I am posting here.

I exchanged my copy of Gears for a new copy (thinking I had a bad press perhaps). That didn't do the trick either - as I continued to get the 'disc unreadable' errors. As as last resort, I exchanged my Xbox (6 months old) thanks to the replacement plan at Best Buy. So far, it's been ok - but I've only played multiplayer so who knows. Though for the record, on my old Xbox I got the 'disc unreadable' errors in both campaign and multiplayer modes.

Oh, and for any asshats that are going to complain about the video's length - it's over 3 and 1/2 minutes. Feel free to stop it before the end once you get the idea rather than post a comment about how the video is too long. If you are even contemplating doing so I already hate you.

  • Thanks to the copyright owners of the original song used in this video (Caviar's Tangerine Speedo) for the lovely takedown notice. Are you fricking kidding me? You'd rather have the video taken down then let people hear the song? Great move ex-lax

  • It doesn't burn the game disc because this has been happening to me for the past year now here and there and my GOW2 game works just fine.

  • this problem happened to me too ,but now i know that when this happens and ur xbox makes some weird noise u have to buy a buffer and polish the disc or it will laser burn ur game disc

  • same thing happens to my gears of war 2 the xbox support said theres something wrong it may be Dlc that ive downloaded or a corrupted file that as played iether way i miss my gears of war 2!

  • This is happening with me and my ODST disc!! grr.. not only that but all my discs as well! wtf..

can someone please tell me how to fix it?

    P.S.

I'm stuck playing BF 1943 and it's a good game but it can get boring after 60 play throughs.

  • no, the stats said that it's a 79% chance of failure on unboxing. Usually due to crappy packaging.

  • ok seriously thats such bullshit.think about it.that means for every single second u play the xbox that theres a 79% chance it would fail.u wouldnt even be able to play for a minute.its more like 0.0000000000001% or something

  • I am planning to get a Xbox 360 but it has 79 % failure rate ( ign info, not mine)

  • this is the first case ive ever heard of like this.he could have got it repaired in a week or less for free, got a months free subscription and be guaranteed that it wouldnt happen again but he didnt.oh and xbox rules ps3 sucks actually :)

  • This is why Microsoft and Xbox 360 fails!
