N. Short Vs. T. Kosintseva "..a very nice positional crush"

http://ChessNoir.com Nigel Short goes against the beautiful Tatiana Kosintseva, whom Garry Kasparov says is the best Russian female chess player.

This nice positional game occurred during the 3rd round of the prestigious 2011 Tradewise Gibraltar tournament.

The opening played is the Nimzo-Indian Defence, Ragozin Variation

Nigel Short amazingly achieved a score of 9/10 and a TPR of 2883, claiming 2nd place overall behind the great Vassily Ivanchuk.

It's not the interviewer who is annoying, but Nigel. He's acting like a teenager, treating himself to limitless repetitions of "the situation is completely lost for Black" and "Black is in a lousy position". He never cares to change his phraseology even a bit, for variety, if not for the fact that his Opponent is sitting right beside. He just enjoys belitting her, referring to her as "she". What pathetic manners.

Not to mention the fact that the commentary is hardly illminative.

@karlg i hear what you're saying but it'd be a dull world if we all paid lip service to this prevailing ethos of self-deprecation n false modesty n ofcourse Kramnik WAS addressing an English audience having defeated our most successful Grandmaster since Staunton so it probably paid him to be gracious; i noted his lack of shyness in mentioning Nigel's poor record against him xD Nigel's authentically himself, relishes victory (makes a song n dance) loathes defeat (keeps his head down)xD

@AlanWattParrot Right, I would not call him obnoxious. (Oddball perhaps.) Ironically, I was just re-watching the video of Kramnik analyzing the his win against Nigel in London. I was struck by how gracious Kramnik was, even going so far as to say he had pity for Nigel because these are tough losses to take, and describing a recent similar loss he (Kramnik) had. I wish Nigel were more gracious in victory.

@karlg1965 true .. mind you after that debacle vs Kramnik where he put his B on e7 then got his light sq B locked out n was postionally mullered, i don't blame him not wanting to relive that publicly. He was game enough over his loss to Luke in his pet KG; played a blinder vs MC, on top throughout, got a big laugh for 'knowing' why he didn't play a certain line after MC demonstrated a lovely tactic. He's not an obnoxious man, slight pompous streak phaps but q amusing w/ it at times xD

Apparently Nigel's mom forgot to tell him he should not monopolize a conversation. Some people might actually want to know what the black player was thinking about rather than listening to Nigel give you his best guess at what she was thinking.

Actually, the most entertaining bits of this video are the looks Tatiana Anatolyevna gives him. I particularly enjoyed the look she gives him around 18:40, when he says of her move . . . b6 that is it just "optically wrong." Could you be more of an ass?

@AlanWattParrot I enjoy Nigel is small doses, but I think he should learn to take it as well as dish it out. When he's on the receiving end of a beating, he manages not to show up for the post game analysis. See the 3rd London Chess Classic.
