The question is not how to get managers’ emotional commitment but why manager’s don’t give it even if they like their company.
Most managers have plenty of emotional commitment to give to their jobs. If they can be convinced it’s safe and sensible to give it.

Brendon, great job on holding back the key element to all of this. Being a role model to others as an expert is no less important than it is as a professional athlete, celebrity, politician or any other role that others look up to that person for. Experts should be mentors to others so that leaders and role models will continue to be produced and pass on theri knowledge and experience to those who will undoubtedly need and want to pay for.
