Cold wars: Antarctica cooling, not melting under Ozone Hole shield?

Its been dubbed the 'Climategate': Last week hackers retrieved e-mails from The University of East Anglia allegedly showing experts have ignored evidence suggesting the earth is not heating up. But scientists claim it's sabotage ahead of the Copenhagen climate summit this month. And similar accusations have been laid against an astonishing new report. It claims greenhouse gases - and a hole in the ozone layer - may actually be protecting the Antarctic from melting.

You also have to take into acount, that they have to take into acount every natural force, that is really hard to accomplish, but they do have evidence that it is cooling, its not the computers models, there is no geologist that just bases his claims on computer models.

no when u melt it the water level stays the same, ice expands when frozen so whether u have a ton of ice floating with part above sea level or whether u defrost it the water level never changes.

try it, put ice cube in glass of water and mark the level, let it melt and check the level.

@tpvalley exactly, ice is floating and part of it is above sea level, when you melt the ice sea level will go up due to volume of ice going back into the sea.

Like I've always said, humans don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Global warming sales media today, and global cooling sold it in the 1970's. All their "evidence" of global warming is based on conjecture and speculation. I'm against polluting, but only for the principle of being a clean species. Humans are just a nat on an elephants ass. If the earth actually took a decent sized shit, we'd go out with it.

If CO2 was produced naturally in large quantities, it would have been consistently accumulating in the atmosphere. Yet it hadn't been as high as it is now for 15 million years until man came along. Go further back and there was more and more CO2. If you go really far back there was no free oxygen because it was all bound up in CO2. It took hundreds of millions of years to photosynthesise all that oxygen. Now we're reversing the effect.

@tpvalley I said we produce more CO2 than has appeared in the atmosphere. We know how much fossil fuel is burnt. It means nature and the seas are absorbing a lot of man's CO2 emissions. Nature can't absorb excess CO2 out of the atmosphere from one year to the next and yet still be a net producer of CO2 can it. That's simple logic. Nature is therefore a net carbon sink.

We were already in an interglacial. Climate and CO2 are no longer in any recognisable cycle that has happened before.

the earth naturally produces greenhouse gasses, these rise and fall making greenhouse effect or ice age so u cannot say earth does not produce any co2 and is only a sink, its a natural cycle and as I said we have no way of knowing volume even if its dead sea organisms rotting (methane) it still makes us warmer even though its renewable or whatever.
