Xbox 360 USB Door Hinge Repair

I unplugged a controller from the front port on my Xbox 360 when I was moving it and the door hinge didn't spring shut as it should. I take care of my equipment and this bothered me, so I found a paperclip and some super glue and repaired it. The shinny metal rod that the spring is sitting on is the paperclip that I cut to size with a pair of pliers. I wedged that in place then glued it. Finally I just re-secured the metal plate that holds the door on with a little more super glue and voila, my little problem is taken care of.

heeelllp how do you take off the silver thing?

@pencilstealer7 It'll take some force but it should just pop right off. I'd yank it close to the center to avoid snapping the two plastic pieces that it sits on. Worst case you can always glue that plastic back on if it snaps off. Just give everything enough time to dry, it's not like the spring that's in there has a tremendous amount of force.

thank you so much! i have had my xbox 360 elite 2 years this christmas and i looked up how to take this faceplate off you just pop it off no biggy and i needed to fix one on the memory port doors and the usb door. luckily the memory port door's spring was still halfway on so i could just reattach it but unluckily the spring for the usb door is missing and i'll try this! thanks. Now i can make my xbox sexy again (;

How did you get the little piece of paper clip in that small space, it turns into rocket science when huge fingers are the main obstacle.

On my xbox the little points where you connect the USB port is bent do you know how I can unbend it or what I can use

Thanks I only needed to know how to take the face plate off but what I did with the spring was put it under the medal on an angel and made sure it wouldn't move pit the other part of the spring on the door and it worked perfectly
