The All New 2011 Lincoln MKX - Presented By Napleton Lincoln of Park Ridge. Call Now for more info at 877-441-8779... The New 2011 Lincoln MKX comes with an upgraded engine moving away from her older model, which had the 265 horsepower producing 3.5 liter engine. The MKX now incorporates a 3.5 liter engine that delivers 305 horsepower through a V6. Also now there is a six-speed automatic attached, which can be shifted by driver's fingertips and together with the engine increases torque.

This does not only give the MKX 15 percent more power, but also makes it more responsive to driver shifts and throttling. Mileage in the 2011 MKX has also improved albeit by 1 mpg making it both most fuel efficient and most powerful V6 offered in its class.

Other interesting changes include the chassis, brakes and resized booster. The brakes are now bigger and combine discs with a larger diameter with the booster making for a firmer brake pedal. Also available as standard are cruise control, trailer sway control, collision warning system and hill-start assist, which allow the 2011 MKX to develop itself as a good vehicle.

Road tests revealed some solid numbers but do not accurately depict the MKX's driving attributes. The MKX whizzed from 0-60 in about 7.2 seconds, stopped in 132 feet from a speed of 60 mph and took 15.5 seconds to finish the quarter mile. In comparison to the RX 350 the MKX feels tighter, more responsive to steering inputs and even emanates a more macho sound.

Styling

Styling of the MKX is without a doubt reminiscent of the age we live in. It could also be described as space-age. The brash grille at the front of the MKX makes a bold statement and LED taillights that are spilt give the rear a great look. The new styling along with wider flares and smoother lines allows the MKX to gain an identity of its own.

The interiors of the MKX are similarly revamped to a dramatic extent and incorporate a range of innovative technology. The first thing you will notice is the MyLincoln Touch, which is an audio, navigation and climate system that makes traditional buttons obsolete. This screen based system works with touch sensitive controls placed on the center stack along with the steering wheel switches.

The touch controls that the Lincoln MKX uses instead of the traditional buttons are a cool idea but require a bit more attention and may seem hard to operate at first. But once muscle memory takes over then things get a lot easier and the sliders actually work quite well. In the MKX it seems that Ford has thought of everything and for those who have big broad fingers and find it hard to fiddle around with small things they have incorporated voice command ability. The voice system in the Lincoln seems to be a huge stride in intuitiveness and engineers claim it responds to a range of more than 10,000 voice commands that not only allow you to place calls, change temperature or request a radio station but will also play a specific song as requested.

There are three screens that the system employs to inform the driver of various functions. One is the traditionally positioned navigation network in the center of the console and the other two are smaller 4.2 inch LCD's placed at the right and left of the speedometer.

The two smaller screens positioned in front of the driver are manipulated by the buttons on the steering wheel. The right sided buttons control navigation, audio, climate and phone settings and display information on the right LCD. The left LCD displays the tachometer graph and vehicle information. The 2011 MKX will come with MyLincoln Touch as standard so it is good that the engineers at Ford have covered all bases with it.

Further interior design changes are the new dashboard and door panels, which have a neat finished stitching to them. Authentic wood trim is also available in different color varieties as is the option of real aluminum instead.

Cabin ride is smooth and interior cabin is very quiet even at high speeds, which is better in order to listen to the THX II 14-speaker audio system that is available as an option.
