clearly they are both(all three) in the wrong. Almedia held the choke for too long, yeah. but there isn't anything in the rules about holding a submission. once the fight was called, marquardt ASSAULTED Almedia.

Almeida is a cool guy but he was totally in the wrong here. Renzo certainly shouldnt have sucker kicked Nate but his fighter was being attacked so it was kinda instinctual in SORT OF a non malicious way.
It`s too bad tho since this was a real nice performance by big dog to watch. 5 years later and its still a pleasure to watch. shame.

@AnAverageSportsFan Nate tapped, the ref stepped on and Ricardo held the choke and smiled at the camera. That's not class, nothing classy about ignoring a tap and the ref for a photo op. It wasn't until after he finally let go that nate hit him and Ricardo deserved it. And was that class that after he held the choke and posed for the camera he tried to go after nate but was restrained? Gracies have quite the rep for holding choke for too long. That's the truth.

almeida is the most underatted guy out there. yeah he really "lost" that fight against cote. another example of UFC bias against bjj guys. (diaz vs sherk, diaz vs guida, almeida vs cote)
