New from Markus (www.neuner.de) comes the Albrecht Tectalk Contact II with the normal 8 channels PMR446 BUT when you buy the software then you get 20 channels programmable, 2.5-3.0 watts available for the mysterious 446 UHF CB Band. Radio is tti to the core, comes with a stand in battery charger, nicads, beltclip and the charger is an intelligent one and turns off the batteries when completed. This charge takes around 14 hours. Mine is run on normal alkalines to allow for some power to be used. Great Made Radio, AWESOME PRICE at 78 euros
https://www.pmr-funkgeraete.de/artikel/artikel-3590-kategorie-80-seite-.htm? you can see the weblink and remember add the extra 40ish euro and have the software, simplex programmable from 446-448mhz, 2.5-3.0w dependent on Batteries. Sadly quiet here on air at the moment as near Easter but have two radios here and will be making some tests with them as soon as possible and also later from the hills of the Czech Republic during the DX Season there!!!!

  • Simon, and you can set up private channels or encrypted channels, through the pc? Someone said me yes, but I can not believe it.

  • @Chevchev2 channels, ctss and power is all programmable via the software and pc. hobbyradio dot de there are the drivers for the software there.

  • Thanks Simon.

You can change the power of 0.5 to 3 watts through walkie menu or must be in by computer?

    Do the batteries spent quickly?

You know that walkie is better, this or a Midland G8 or G9?

  • @Chevchev2 Through the PC and the batteries seem to suffer no severe loss of power. G8 or G9? Both are working well and both have mods to make them better.

  • Nice little thing. And 3W, that will cover about 10Km's in perfect conditions, right?

  • Depends where you live and the terrain, can speak car to house here now 9km so can be more indeed. Depends on Luck more than anything,, and how high you live, where you live and obstacles in the way

  • PMR Is starting to pick up in England with many users setting up networks, cb radio is all but dead and buried due to P.L.T broadband wiping out so many users, myself included "have 5 people in my street alone using plug in broadband" and it's interference range is around 1000feet .. UHF is pretty much interference free.

I can talk to friends 7-8 miles away using a simple homemade ufh dipole.. that would be near impossible on the cb with 6-7s of constant noise running

  • Which frequencies are used for the "unofficial" UHF CB?

  • what 20 chanels??it's a pmr..what happens?

  • Looks like a nice little hand held to add to the ever growing collection of 'UHF CB' capable radios.

Although, I notice that the plethora of Chinese (wideband) hand helds are taking off in a really big way now. There seems to be a newer and more feature rich model every other month. They even sell dual band models now. It will be very interesting to see what the market looks like in another years time.

Keep up the good work Simon!

  • What happens at 2:41?
