Tales of ACS - Suzu vs 7x Barbatos

Here goes Suzu, blazing through enemy Barbatos with fiery passion, as requested by 722gallade.

The best I could do. Granted, I wish I had a more skilled strategy, but this was difficult enough already.

Story - "All of the Tales heroes heard of the Barbatos hunting them down in groups of seven. Unfortunately, even the strongest warriors lower their guard sooner or later. Suzu, being a ninja, doesn't easily fall for ambushes. But even her skills prove insufficient to escape, when more and more Barbatos chase her, cornering her on a mountain. Suzu improvises a battle strategy, but in the end is saved when she discovers a dark secret that pushes the Barbatos into civil war..."

Hardest character yet, a lot harder than it looks. But still ok with a bit of hacking. Asbel actually took a lot longer, but only because of the stupid "Hi-Ougis hit only 1 foe" "glitch".

So, to "briefly explain" the strategy and the hacks at once :


1. Enter Overlimit and spam the fire move. After the first flip, Suzu is invincible, dashes a very, very long way, and hits many times. Gives a lot of TP.

2. But wait, Suzu needs a second to recover from the move. Dangerous ; she might get hit. Thankfully she can do it several times in a row.

3. But wait, if she does that, she CAN'T switch sides ; she'll fly in the same direction again, away from the foes. I haxed the recovery to be faster, so that she can switch directions.

4. Keep spamming the fire move, alternating directions. Timing the inputs is important, but easy.

5. But wait, if Barbatos guards the move, Suzu won't go through him, and get "stuck" in the middle of her enemies. Since Barbatos barely ever guards anyway, I made the fire move unblockable, to be safe.

6. But hang on a second, Barbatos can still use Genocide Braver. It misses Suzu cuz she's invincible, but it still gets her "stuck" on the likewise invincible Barbatos. To solve that, the first few Fire moves are preceded by some steps backwards ; this makes Barbatos more likely to use his Purple Laser Of Doom attack, and he won't have enough TP for Genocide Braver. After this he's a lot less likely to use that dreaded move, since he'll usually only have TP for the Purple Lasers. Ingenious.

7. But damn, he eventually did Genocide Braver anyway. Thankfully Suzu can use Divine Dog, a spinning move that gives a lot of TP and makes her invincible. Pretty cool.

8. But fuckdamnit, that leaves her COMPLETELY open. No choice but to take the hits. Suzu has only 380 HP, and it seems to me that she gets juggled easily. Very easy to die very fast. Hope you get to touch the floor before dying.

9. Use ... Zan?, or Quasi Seal, which are Hi-Ougis, to escape the combo as soon as you get a chance. Zan is half the power of Quasi Seal, but also costs about half the TP and doesn't leave Suzu open.
Also, in my great stupidity, I haxed-increased the hitboxes of these attacks, which literally did nothing for Zan, but SCREWED UP Quasi Seal. If I do it from too far, the result in the video happens. Big waste of TP.

10. If you think you got half a second ahead of you during which you won't get hit, start using the fire move again. Repeat the previous steps until most of the Barbatos are dead. Or you are.

11. Maybe I should've LEARNED A COMBO OR TWO with Suzu. I can roast 7 Barbatos, but I found myself clueless against a single one. Not obvious is me TRYING to summon Mint to heal me, which, for reasons I still don't know, refused to help me. And yeah, I reduced her TP cost, so that's not it. Chester worked though.


Finally, I wasn't sure which music to use. Hesitated for a long time before just using Hourai Victim, from Touhou.


So there you go, not only does Barbatos and six of his clones lose to a 12-year old, but they also get their dirty little secret revealed as said kid discovers an apple gel on their selves.

Touhou 8 extra stage theme... 7 Barbatos = extra boss difficulty... Enough fire to match at least 1 of Mokou's spellcards... I guess I really am watching a Touhou video.
