Engine 12 leaving quarters on an emegency call. Early 1990's - Shreveport, Louisiana. Eng 12 is a 1987 Quality Monarch Pumper. Operators considered these pumpers to be the best apparatus the city ever had. Later a Federal Q was added, but the horns were never upgraded.

  • is it loud in the truck with the siren on

  • @skateboardrider100 >>>---> A little, but the sirens are on the front bumper and down kind of low.

  • Is that engine still at Station 12 or did it get replaced?

  • I think it is a reserve rig now.

  • @zaffdoc do you still have any that are not reserve rigs

  • @skateboardrider100 >>>---> All of them are reserves. As of 6-1-11 they got down to only two, and the powers-that-be decided to buy new motors for all 5. I think I might be correct in that the each motor cost $25,000. So, for $125,000 they are going to get 5 engines for reserves. The old Quality Monarch pumpers are still in great shape except for the motors and the white paint which is starting to look pretty scratched up and faded.
