@pl3384 Hmmm I am an idiot? Nice guy...You are part of the reason I got sick of the open road after 18 years. I expect to see your type spun out on a major grade because you are to silly to understand the difference between torque and horsepower. If you want a scientific explanation it might confuse you, so I wont even try.
Being a trucker myself I ask this question... Why don't you stop off on the side and put on the 6 tire chains on? And put at least one on the steers and one drag chain on the trailer? The other 4 on the drives and engage your interlocks? I have put my chains on and off 4 times in a 36 hour period through Oregon and Washington. You can put chains on anytime for safety reasons in any state if ice is an issue. Except for Michigan because they care more about their crappy roads than you.

@Skitzofreenic I didn't have chains. You are only required to carry chains if you drive across the Rockies from October to March. It is very rare to ned chains on the prairies...
