Sayonara is a 1957 film which tells the story of an American Air Force flier who was a fighter "Ace" during the Korean War. It was adapted by Paul Osborn from the novel by James Michener. Produced by William Goetz, it was directed by Joshua Logan. Unlike most '50s romantic dramas, Sayonara deals squarely with racism and prejudice.

  • Woah that's awesome~! I read the book, it was great! I didn't know there was a movie.. > __ <; <3

  • I liked this movie because it had beautiful landscaping.

    Beautiful views of 1950's Japan.

The story itself was rather simple.

    But entertaining nonetheless.

Can't believe how many (thin-skinned whiny) people criticize this movie as "racist, stereotyped" portrayal of Japan and japanese women.

Some people always need something to complain about i guess...

  • Great movie!!! Thank you so much for having posted it. Great performances!!!

  • I actually have great taste in films, so don't judge me. Buttons and Umeki gave great performances.

  • U know...everybody has his own taste... but the reality is that this movie is very bad, sorry.I think the only thing makes you impressive is that you love Japan and Japanese women, otherwise you'd notice:extremily naive story, lack of feelings between actors(they are just 2 pieces of wood, obssesed by idea how to show themselves in the best way;no connections),heavely politized "underneath", mediocre performances ofeach single actor.I think u'r American so for u love for bad movies is pardonable :)

  • Have you seen Sayonara?

  • im related to james michener, idk how, but its weird

  • where do i find that song?
