I think it's Dm7, Am7, Bb/D. There're a couple of passing chords between the Am7 and the Bb/D, pretty sure those are C7 and C#7. Could be wrong though obviously.

John Mayer has this amazing ability to play blues patterns on his strat that you tend to hear only on a piano - and he makes it sound like a Fender Rhodes! (check out Bold as Love on Continuum, the "quiet bit" in his solo)

i think its a kind of G7 mixolydian bass stuff. sounds like G7 Am7 and Dm7 to me. we need an expert on this PLEASE. i'd like to take a closer look on that. i'm kinda bad with notes and names of chords :X

This video has all the classic traits of the classic John Mayer Youtube Production. 240p? check... cameraman making awestruck comments? check... total views impossible to emulate? check... Total length barely enough to even take in the awesomeness? check... Thats about it...

Hey Tomo, You gave me some advice quite a while ago.. I used it in my practice and got alot better (im not advertising my page. i have no current vids up)! Anyway i worked on guitar and vocals and now i'm working with some big dogs in the industry. Thanks!

hahahaha "its the perfect R&B guitar" haha what a man!

is that a vintage fender amp he plays through or a modern version with stock tubes etc ??

@2220Blues lol, to be honest the guitar does sound warmer when less laquer is applied.. not to say laquer makes it sound horrible, but it's a known fact that less laquer = warmer guitar sound. the sound doesn't just come from the pickups, the strings, or how you pluck them; or else there would be no point in putting that much work into the guitar itself. it doesn't matter if it's an acoustic or not, the sound resinates through the guitar.. so less laquer makes it sound warmer; all to be said.
TOMO I JUST GOT IN BERKLEE HOPE TO LEARN FROM YOU AGAIN!!! :D

Hey man, do you know the tone on the amp. I have one myself and love the tone. also how do I get a warm tone with out it being really bassy on the lower strings? Please respond :) Thanks

@OwensMusic1 John was using a Fender Hot Rod. Guitar, pickups (set lower on lower strings side) touch!

Hey Mr, Fujita. I was wondering if you've seen/heard the jazzy cat pups from KleinPickups(dot)com? I, like millions of other guitarists, am trying to get a tone similar to John's. I know he's let you play on his black one before, so I was hoping you could provide some input cuz I was thinking of grabbing a set. If you've hadn't seen em, there's a vid on youtube. Cheers!!

@godssonn Basically, if you really imitate how John plays his guitar, it could sounds very similar to John Mayer's tone. Personally I really like the Raw Vintage 60s set. I order my set (Tomo set?) My front pickup is lower like real vintage start or Vintage Duo Sonics. I get so many questions about JM 's Black One. Another pickups similar to...Bare Knuckle pickups from England.
