I set the Bushy Tailed Woodrat free, 5 miles from my place its a decent area for him to be living, just not 100% certain he'll be able to gather up enough food caches in time before winter sets in, so this live release thing might even be moar inhumane than just killing him when I caught him.

  • she just lost her wild roof rat of old age and now it seems like fate that one died and another wild critter came into her life.. how long did you keep your woodie til release?

  • @onixspider wasnt a pet, just a wild one that moved into the firewood pile on the front porch...they steal everything in sight and hide it and worse, pee on everything and the pee STINKS, so live trapped him and set him free somewhere else...then gave the trap to neighbor ~1 mile away, he trapped 15 of them in 1 month from his barn, he set them free in front of his dog and his dog killed each one

  • awww you so sweet to help the lil critter

  • @onixspider in reality, i probably condemned it to a slow painful death...moved it to an area ~5 miles away that it isnt familiar with, dunno what competition he had in new area, same predators as at my place, but now he's not got hiding spots and most important, he's not near the food cache he should/wouldve been storing...able to gather up enough food to last thru til spring???? it'd be tough for him to do that....but wifey wanted him live released...i hope im wrong.

  • awww maybe youre just worrying about the lil un too much haha, im sure its alot more able to care for itself than you probably think!:) such a lil cutie too i watched your other videos and love em.. a friend of mine just rescued a woodie, we think its a white-throated woodrat and shes in total love with her.. i dont think she is going to release her lol.. but shes taken care of wild rats alot of times before so she knows what shes doing and im confident the new girl will be very happy, (cont)
