I just got this Garmin nuvi 255W a few weeks ago and wanted to know if it would recognize the very-new I-75 on-ramp from Bruce B. Downs Blvd. This ramp used to be on the left and now it's on the right.

  • Are you happy with this unit? I'm thinking of returning mine. The audio quality is terrible. Garmin has admitted that they are using a lower quality compression on this unit so it sounds muffled as if the speaker is blown out. I tried both male voices American and British and both were horrible!

  • Yeah I'm happy with it. There's been an update from version 1.0 to 1.1 for the voices, sounds fine to my ears. Speaker distorts when at 80% or higher but with something this slim I really can't expect it to be perfect. But when compared to the StreetPilot c580 that had dual speakers, that sounded way better. But the nuvi 255W navigates better, so given the choice I go with the better navigator than the one that has better audio quality.

  • Nice to see the night mode is still part of the unit.

  • I've checked around and this is where all GPS companies get you, Garmin, TomTom all charge for map updates. Garmin charges $70 for a full north america maps update with updated POIs, maps, etc. You can get the lifetime update for $119 from Garmin,
