Doctor Who Sci Fi Channel Promo 1993

No clue what was going on there for a couple months, but the clip appears to be functioning again.

Old ScFi Channel promo from 1993 advertising a special block of Doctor Who (and related) programming. Taped by a friend off his satellite dish because there weren't any cable companies carrying the channel back then, the clip starts off with a very old school SciFi Channel station ID.

Ahhhh...Memories. My cable company actually carried Sci-Fi when it first launched. This special, "The What Where, and When of Who" was the first time I got to see K-9 and Company. I think I still have the tape from when I taped it. Thank you for reminding me of a great time!

I have a tape recorded from this year. It presented some anime instead.

Up until recently they were showing anime at least up until 2000 or so. Then it disappeared for a while. It was the first place I'd ever seen Galaxy Express 999, for instance. Or Colossus: The Forbin Project, even. It's obviously a much different network now from the days when they would give Harlan Ellison a TV show.

Ah, the days when SCI FI was actually The Sci-Fi Channel and not a bastardization of its name.

Maybe one day, we'll actually get a channel devoted to science fiction. One can dream, at least...

@jasoncinema That network went down the tubes and sold out around 2000, starting with that crappy "Dune" miniseries. That was the beginning of the end.

@harleykman USA used to be one of the best channels on television in the late 80's and early 90's. Sci-Fi was USA'a sister station, and they were both AWESOME until NBC Universal took over, and completely ruined both channels.
