Ah, the days when SCI FI was actually The Sci-Fi Channel and not a bastardization of its name.
Maybe one day, we'll actually get a channel devoted to science fiction. One can dream, at least...

Wow, I miss back when the Sci-Fi channel was actually good.

Man the Sci Fi intro brings back memories. I can remember being over my buddies house on summer nights watching TV.

RIP Elisabeth Sladen, we will miss you!!! :51 - :53

Aw,... what a great Dr. Who lineup,... I miss this type of theme programming.

@jasoncinema That network went down the tubes and sold out around 2000, starting with that crappy "Dune" miniseries. That was the beginning of the end.
-
@gabrielnyc So do I. It was so unique then. Now it's just bland crap, scared to even use the name "Sci Fi" full of forgettable underwear models pouting in dark lighting.

I was 13 when the scifi channel came out,but scifi today has been feminized!
-
Ah. Back when the world was full of wonder.

@harleykman USA used to be one of the best channels on television in the late 80's and early 90's. Sci-Fi was USA'a sister station, and they were both AWESOME until NBC Universal took over, and completely ruined both channels.
Dam shame, I miss the old days in the worst way

This was back before SciFi became SyFy. Back when they still had respect for Science Fiction programs.

@jasoncinema I'm with you on this, the only Sci-fi they show is Stargate and Star Trek.
Ahhhh...Memories. My cable company actually carried Sci-Fi when it first launched. This special, "The What Where, and When of Who" was the first time I got to see K-9 and Company. I think I still have the tape from when I taped it. Thank you for reminding me of a great time!

I can totally understand. Sometimes I run across an old VHS tape I made off a Who episode from the local PBS station back in Kansas City. Happy to provide you with the nostalgia trip.

I have a tape recorded from this year. It presented some anime instead.

Up until recently they were showing anime at least up until 2000 or so. Then it disappeared for a while. It was the first place I'd ever seen Galaxy Express 999, for instance. Or Colossus: The Forbin Project, even. It's obviously a much different network now from the days when they would give Harlan Ellison a TV show.
