To be fair it started as a sextet because Clarinets hadn't been perfected. Amazing perfomance though, my chamber group performed this at a Midwest International Convention in Chicago and didn't sound half as good.

This octet is an original work by Mozart, not modified or a transcription- his Serenade #12 in C minor.

Sounds very familiar to me, just cannot ring the bell. Where was it modified from?
By the way, it should be more than an Octet: the mouth of the conductor adds an additional, though not quite welcome part...
