Welcome to Electro-Harmonix's "Effectology" series, in which we play a remarkable collection of EHX-assisted sounds, and explain how they were made.

Today Bill Ruppert presents "Cello Concerto for Guitar and Effect Pedals" (pedals used: for the 'cello' it's just a HOG and Holiest Grail, and for the backing pads Bill also uses a Black Finger, POG, Stereo Polychorus, and Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai).

I especially liked how Bill used the HOG to pitch-shift his guitar down into the register of a cello. That plus the slow attack makes this one especially fun to try, and quite easy to reproduce.

these videos are really cool but you need to find a way to show the pedals and playing while explaining whats going on

We just get an audio file, so there is no video to work with. Also, the idea is that the "story" unfolds in "real time" so you can't really show lots of pedal tweaking and also explain what's going on, all within a few minutes.

However, Bill is over on the EHX forums with LOTs of details on how he gets his sounds. Come join us there!

I actually ment instead of the pog, cld i use the micro pog, thats the one im interested in getting.. Did u just use the Hog to detune the guitar and add the envelope??
