Bradley Hastings, owner of Crate Escape, says the town's plan to buy the building at 20 Flanders Road that houses his business or take the land by eminent domain could jeopardize the business' future. Town officials say the location is the best suited for a badly needed new substation for the Belmont Municipal Light Department.

Town Meeting members will decide the fate of the plan at a special Town Meeting that begins on Nov. 16.
