Most don't realize it can significantly damage your hearing. It looks awful and has nothing to do with your skill level. You can get it fixed if it does happen as long as you act fairly quickly. Plus there is no reason to get it if you wear headgear. For some I guess it is a badge of honor. For others it is downright ugly and uncomfortable. So why risk your hearing?
