  • Very nice video and great creative camera angles...thanks for taking the time to shoot a real logging video. There's more actual logging in that 8 minute video than on an hour of "Ax Men" on History Channel. It took me a second to realize you had the video in high speed during the skidding/limbing. I thought, "MAN that skidder driver is brave!" HA! Keep on trucking and good luck to you.

  • @HSWoodcutting Thanks for the comment. Yeah it irritates me that Ax Men doesn't show more of the log hauling aspect of it. The hauling part is just as important has cutting the trees down. And American Loggers shows more of the trucking, but their log trucks are different, and it's just not the same as our long loggers here. Yeah I had to speed up a couple parts of the video to keep it under 10 minutes, so it makes the skidder operator look crazy! ha ha

  • Man, you guys run really low bunks... Here In Canada there a lot higher

  • Well, the reason for that is that down here in California we are limited to 80,000 pounds or 36287.389 kg no matter what, and we can easily get up to that weight with the loads fairly low. So there's no need to have them any taller or we would. We are also limited in height to no more than 14 feet tall. Can't even get a permit or pay more for registration to haul more weight unless it is a non-reduceable load like a big piece of equipment. It kind of sucks.

  • ...recognized that Feather River country immediately...logged all over it a few years back...especially during the golden years of salvage sales (late 70's)...Oregon and Idaho since then...wonderful video, thanks!

  • Well thanks for watching! Yep, this is a great area, and I love hauling logs here. I love the northwest portion of Oregon. Do you have any idea what logging is doing in that area right now? I lived there for a year and a half west of Portland, but I did not have a log truck at the time. Saw plenty of them though. Been thinking of moving back there, but want to know I will be able to make money hauling logs there like I can here. You are on the east side I'm guessing.

  • Awesome editing. I was a diesel mechanic for Redwood Coast Trucking back in the early 80's. Fun times. Nothing better than the scent of fresh cut timber.

  • where are you hauling

  • well that looks like a fun trip to quincy

  • Very nicely done. You should be proud!

  • @sonofalogger97 thanks

  • @MaximillionX25 Its a Feller Buncher.

  • what's the name of the machine at 0:30

  • thanks from a old log truck driver, what a load of pecker poles, miss the old days.3 to 6 log loads, one week hauled 9, 3 log loads on a 3 trip haul,,to stupid to take pictures, thought it would go on forever,,,,

  • People would freak out if they knew that the only thing holding the trailer to the truck is the logs. In Ca you have to tie to the trailer but not in Oregon.

You have a good loader operator, he knows that the secret to a good load of logs is a tight bunk load!

I always liked my wrappers with one big coil instead of two smaller ones.

We always had to leave two wrappers on until the 988 got around us.

This spring they sold a almost new Letouneau at Orick, Ca for $30 or $40,000 bucks.
